Yes, this is a day late for Caturday. Sue me.

I received my $7,320 tax refund that resulted from my Tesla purchase, and while I’m going to roll most of it back into the car, I had two recreational purchases I knew I was going to be making with those funds. The first was a treadmill, which wound up costing me only $5. The other is a kitten (or maybe two), which I can’t get until early April because of an upcoming vacation this week. While I’m eager to get the cat(s), I want my house cat-proof (to the extent that’s possible) and cat-friendly before then, so I can wait.

Phase 1

Simple enough, right? Well, it’s got a stupid story associated with it. I went into my local PetSmart in South Riding, VA. I need help figuring out what I need. As Carl Sagan would say, I’m facing the unknown unknowns, i.e., I don’t necessarily know what I should ask for. No one was available to help me, and no one seemed to care, so I just bought something that I knew I needed and left. But hey, it was a Sunday. That wouldn’t happen on a weekday, would it? So I went in on a Wednesday.

Crickets.

So, while I’m in the PetSmart, I’m surfing Amazon for information and better pricing, and guess what? I found an automated litter box on Amazon that uses ordinary litter for about 54% the cost of the equivalent model at PetSmart. So, . . .

Phase 2

I bought this via Amazon, and walked out of PetSmart without buying anything. Bad for business, eh? Anyway, the idea is to buy two litter boxes, one for upstairs and the other for downstairs. I’ll need to buy a manual one if my kitten(s) is(are) as young as I want, but that allows me to test this guy to see if it’s any good. If it is, I’ll buy a second one when the cat(s) get(s) older. Otherwise, this will be the secondary one, and I’ll spend the extra 46% for the PetSmart one. But maybe not buy it from PetSmart. They’re very unhelpful.

Phase 3

While I was surfing for automated litter boxes, I also found this.

I define this as a five-level cat tree. By that definition, PetSmart had only two- or three-level cat trees, none of which had scratching posts. Nevertheless, PetSmart‘s trees cost as much as this one did. Granted, you take your chances not being able to verify the integrity of the structure, but this paid off. The “carpeting” is really soft, and the scratching posts seem durable. Moreover, I wouldn’t quite call this “dark grey,” and that works. It’s almost the same color as my carpet, which is a greyish blue, and not particularly dark.

So, I need letter, cat food, and another litter box. I also need to get things off of shelves that are easily knocked over. What am I forgetting?

Cats Need to Eat #Caturday @wendeeluvz

Here’s a video of a housecat showing his owner who’s boss.

Maybe that cat would leave him alone if he fed him every time he asked.

I’m at Winter Fantasy #Caturday #DnD #TTRPG #RPG

I’m at Winter Fantasy in arctic Ft. Wayne, IN, so here are some stupid Caturday images that seem appropriate.

That’s a lot of dice. That little guy must be playing a rogue.

I love that this DC (Dungeon Cat. Get it?) is preparing to pull out an old white dragon on this party. I’m not sure if that thing will fit in that room.

I was scheduled to run three sessions of 1st Edition Dungeons & Dragons. Each session would be a different leg of White Plume Mountain. Not a single table went off. I sold only one ticket for the third session, and needless to say, that guy decided to find his way onto another table. I’ll be running the adventure in the van on the way home, however, so I’ll get my fix.

I’m Too Busy #Caturday

If you enjoy this post, please retweet it.

I know. WotC made a huge announcement. Everyone’s talking about it. I want to as well, and more than one person (three) directly asked me to comment on it. However, I’m really busy putting my house back together after contractors messed with it, and preparing for Winter Fantasy and Winter Vantasy. I need to prepare a DDAL adventure I’ll be running in the van, and finish my prep for 1st Edition White Plume Mountain, which, if anyone buys a ticket, I’ll be running. So, for now, as I warned some of you, I’m just doing a silly Caturday post. As I’m a busy cat at the moment, here’s another busy cat.

Anniversary of Homeownership #Caturday

If you enjoy this post, please retweet it.

Today is the one-year anniversary of closing on my house. While I didn’t move in until the 11th, I became a homeowner on this day. After settling in for a year, I wanted to get cat, but a pipe burst on Christmas Day and flooded the place. I’m going through the long, arduous process of getting it straightened out, so the cat will have to wait. Despite these recent troubles. I really love this house and the neighborhood. It suits me perfectly.

So, anyway, here’s a Caturday meme.

Happy anniversary?

Upgrade! #Vacation #Vegas #gambling #gamble #Caturday

If you enjoy this post, please retweet it.

I’m headed to Vegas on Monday. This will be my first time staying at Mandalay Bay. It’s my preferred gambling spot, but for the past decade or so, I’ve stayed at either the Luxor or the Excalibur. I’ve always enjoyed a ton of success at the Excalibur tables, so I’ll probably make a stop there as well.

Since Columbus Day weekend of this year, I’ve visited a local casino four times to practice my blackjack and have won (after tips, gas, etc.) $3,375. This means that my entire trip has already been financed by gambling winnings even if I lose $2,000 or so (which I won’t; I expect more of the same success). So, for only the second time in my life, I decided to upgrade to first class (for my return trip).

Livin’ in style.

Why? First, it cost only $399 to upgrade, keeping me well within “the trip is already paid for” budget. (I probably paid too much for my coach ticket, so most of the additional expense has already been paid.) Second, the plane is a #Boeing 777-200. This means that first class has “lie flat” seating. This is important b/c my plane leaves at 11:45 pm PT and lands at 7 am ET. Sleeping on a plane will never have been so easy for me. Perfection will be if there’s a socket to plug in my C-PAP. If not, that’s as much the other passengers’ problem as it is my own. 🙂

Oh, and I almost forgot.

Caturday shall not be denied!!!
