Inktober for Charity, Day 6: Michael Myers #Inktober #JDRF #StillBrave #Halloween @JDRF @stillbrave @KevinBednarz

September’s series of musical selections is officially over! It’s October! Or should I say . . . Inktober?

Do you remember what happened the last time I celebrated Inktober? No? Well, you’re not going to like it. You’re certainly not go to like this one. You see, a friend posted to Facebook a list of Inktober assignments, and being the smartass I am, I’ve taken on (synonym: stolen) those assignments despite my . . . “modest” drawing skills. Look, mine will be funnier, okay? I’d link to his (which are going to be much better), but he protects his tweets. You’ll have to settle for mine.

He’s drawing for a charity by offering his drawings for sale, the proceeds for which go to the Stillbrave Childhood Cancer Foundation. Noble, but my choice of charity is the JDRF. Unfortunately, no one will buy my work, so until their link breaks, you can directly donate here. Or you can donate to Stillbrave. I won’t get angry. Here are the assignments:

I don’t know all of these things.

And here is today’s entry.

Day 6: Michael Myers

I thought about doing the obnoxious thing — smartass, remember? — and drawing the actor, but I thought I might be able to get this one right.

The first version would have gotten me in trouble. I won’t say anything more than that.

Huh? Huh?

Before you laugh, try to remember that it’s for charity. Then laugh.

I’m not good with shading. Or hands. Or drawing.

Day 4: Eddie from Iron Maiden

I don’t go to a lot of concerts, so when I go, it’s because I really want to see that band. Iron Maiden’s Seventh Son tour was the first time I’ve ever been on the floor. Soldier Field doesn’t count.

It’s not as if he’s supposed to look good.

Day 3: Pinhead

I saw only the second Hellraiser on VHS back in the 80s, and so this image is dedicated to the version of me that existed back then. I would have preferred a Pinhead with boobs back then. I haven’t changed much, so I still do.

Boobies!

I started with the chin. I have a real problem drawing then (too pointy), and it went downhill from there. Hell, this looks more like an original series Talosian.

Day 1: Leatherface

I didn’t see any iteration of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre until well into the 2000s. I think it was a remake, but I honestly don’t remember. I’m not a fan of horror, though Mother’s Day has a special place in my heart.

I’m looking for endorsement money.

Golden Anniversary #aging #movie #music #art #history

If you enjoy this post, please retweet it.

To make some of you feel as old as I do, here are things that have or will turn 50 this year. Some held up very well.

The sequel was better. 🙂

Even the younguns know this one now.

Oops.

Awkward.

A “Wet Paint” song.

Basically matheletes.

A song remade this many times must be great.

Just the theme song is all it takes to make me laugh.

But it took 47 years to release a chicken sandwich.

My cousin, Tom, always beat me at this at Mr. T’s restaurant.

All of these things are younger than I.

Mushroom “Art” @guardian #art #mushroom

If you enjoy this post, please retweet it.

Sundays now are lazy days for me. I either post something silly or other people’s work. Usually both. Today is dedicated to gearing you up for the following two days that, for reasons I don’t understand, I’m dedicating to mushrooms. Here’s an article from two years ago care of the Guardian discussing a mushroom-obsessed trend among artists.

I’m not fashion expert — I consider myself lucky if my tie matches my shirt — but this doesn’t seem like something to wear when you’re out on the town.

Now that I would wear. To the Renaissance Faire.

Truth be told, I hate mushrooms.

I found a new site last week: FatCatArt.com. It’s pretty nice art, and all the cats are fat. Fat cats are funny. This is not a sample from that site.

I never noticed how much Ron looks like a cat.

A Gift for Me #art

If you enjoy this post, please retweet it.

I focus my legal practice almost completely in real estate law, which includes, among other things, real estate closings. To my recollection, today was the first time I received a gift during closing.

“One art, please!” — Zoidberg

As you know, I’m all about giving credit, but in this case, I chose otherwise.

She was a sweet kid, and I’ve filed this under “classical art” on my blog. I’m going to save this even though I admit it’s a bit creepy to do so. It sure blew away my gift from our office’s white elephant gift exchange. 🙂

Don’t tell the state bar I’m accepting gifts now.
